This is my handmade elephant. It is going to be a gift to my friend for Christmas. The yellow glaze represents more of a savanna feel do it. The ears are slitely bent and the trunk bends to the side showing realism. The right foot is slightly behind the left like he is walking. It shows unity with how all of the parts of the elephant are attached to the body. I learned that glazing doesn't always turn out the way you hope it does. Not everything can be perfect but that's why the project is unique. This makes me feel happy with the elephants smile and want to go to the zoo.

This is my planter. The vertical lines show movement throgh the growth of the plant that will grow out of this. The line of green glaze in the middle of the cylinder shows flow as it goes in one hole and out the other. I learned how the way you glaze can show more movement than just doing a solid color. This makes me feel earthy with the blue and green glaze.
This is my mug that I threw on the wheel and attached a handle to. One skill I used was pulling the handle. The cup shows movement in the shape and how the glaze matches the way I pulled the cup. This cup makes me feel calm and warm because blue and green are the colors of water and earth.
This is a vase I made on the wheel. I used metallic brown, blue and white to create unity between the inside and outside of the project while still creating definition on the outside. I learned how to use the sponge to create a lip on the top. This project makes me feel warm with its earthy tones.
This bowl is more round at the bottom and goes outward at the top. There is movement with the glaze dripping. It shows shape with the definite glaze lines instead of them mixing. There's contrast where the dark glaze meets the lighter glaze. I learned how to properly distribute the clay so that it wasn't too thin on top and thick on the bottom. This piece reflects my calm feeling because there is no harsh shapes of colors.
This bowl is smooth all the way around with three colors overlapping in some areas which add different shades. I learned that if you pull up with tools it can benefit my bowl in many ways. It allows me to shape my bowl the way I want it to look. The circle in the middle of the bowl shows the movement needed in order for me to make this bowl. The uneven proportions of color adds meaning to the bowl and shows how in life, real things aren't always proportional. While making this bowl I was feeling rushed and a little sad because it didn't quite turn out the way I wanted it to. |
