this is my wheel altered project. I glazed it with green and clear glaze. I used a paint brush to add effect to the inside and outside of the project. The glazed rim shows balance in top and unifies with the streaks of glaze in the inside and outside. I learned a different way to use a brush to add detail. This projects mood is sort of experimental and earthy.
This is my set of 3 project. I glazed them with green rims and drips coming off the outside and inside. Although these projects were supposed to be the same, they didn't turn out that way. It is very difficult to make 3 things that look identical. The green really emphasizes the lip of all the projects which is the part that looks most alike. I learned through this project that art is like a fingerprint, none of it is exactly the same. This makes me feel like I want ice-cream because the dripping reminds me of melting ice-cream.
This Is my 2 plates. I glazed them green with white and clear. By glazing them half clear and half white, it really showed the difference the white and the clear has on colors. The center line is really where you see the difference in color and how the glazed unify with eachother. I learned how to splatter pant effectively and how if you use two brushes and Waco one against the other, it turns out a lot better. This project makes me feel warm because it reminds me of a father and son. They are different sizes but they are made of the same thing and the little one just wants to be like the big one.
This is one of my choice projects. This project mainly served as a test dummy for glazing. I wanted to test out a certain method for glazing. I glazed it blue and white. I got a sponge and got some blue glaze on it and started to dab it all around the project. It turned out looking nicely. It's a smaller project but very smooth inside and out and has good form. I learned a different way of glazing while making this project. It makes me feel like summer time because it looks like blue skies with a few clouds.
My toothbrush holder was suppose to be my choice project but it broke in the kiln. I glazed it green, wiped it off and then glazed white overtop. It made a really pretty color and made the carvings pop. I carved a turtle and sea shells in it. I didn't smooth everything out where I attached the two ends showing unity. I learned how to make a toothbrush holder and that when making the holder part of it, you want to make it bigger than you think it should be because they will shrink in the kiln. This project makes me feel happy and sad. Happy because it looked really cool and I was very proud of the work I had done but sad because it broke and I couldn't share it with very many people.
These are my two bowls. The top bowl is glazed blue with a paint brush. The bottom bowl is glazed green with a paint brush. The top one is glazed with smooth brush strokes which created the circles showing unity. The bottom one is glazed with harsh whipping movements witch create the splatter effect. I learned that one tool can be used for multiple things. These bowls make me feel accomplished and proud that I created some awesome bowls.
This is my tall project. I glazed it blue and green in support of the Seahawks. I glazed one half blue and one half green. There is some overlap in the middle showing unity in the colors and also in the pitcher itself. There also is definition in the outside and inside where the two colors meet. When making this I messed up a little and made a dent in the top which ended up being a good thing and shaped it into a pitcher. I learned that even if something doesn't turn out the way you expected, don't give up on it. This project makes me feel excited and wanting to watch some football!!
This is my choice project vase. I glazed it clear with green blue and black streaks going into the center of the vase. The lines contradict the movement of the base because the vase has a horizontal movement and the glazes have a vertical movement. Doing this project I learned that sometimes glazing simple is better than glazing complex. This project makes me feel warm and calm with its simplicity.
This is Joe, Nichole, and I's franken pot. I made the base, Joe made the middle, and Nichole made the top. We did fairly well considering it was Joe and Nichole's first time on the wheel. The black glaze drips down the side showing movement. There are a few indents throughout the project which shows that we attached more than one piece of clay. I learned how to make 3 different pieces and then attached them. This makes me feel proud because it seemed hard at first but once we started, it became easier.
This is my lidded project. The two glazes come together to show unity and my handprint puts a personal touch on the project. When making this, I learned how to make a lid but I need to work on making it fit into the vase. This makes me feel calm because it reminds me of the ocean. It's going to match my toothbrush holder and it will become a q tip holder.
